Coaching Team

The Bodins

Our team is our family. Between the two of us we hold many running accolades, 10 + years of coaching experiences, and a drive to help people grow.

Coach Dawn

I have been running for almost as long as I can remember. A neighbor friend would run around the neighborhood with me in order to “train” for the Presidential Physical Fitness award. With hard work, I earned it every year, often beating all the boys in the mile run. 😉 Running came naturally, so I joined a summer track and field club and was very competitive for several years. I went on to compete in cross country and track all through middle school, high school, and college. I have many High School State podium medals and 5 college All-American awards. After graduating college, I was ready to take a break from competitive running, and that’s when I discovered trail running. Living in Colorado has provided ample opportunities to hit the trails, whether that be running or hiking. I couldn’t suppress my competitive side for too long before feeling the pull to run a trail 10k, three 50ks, and a road half marathon. Overall, I have trained for and competed in almost every distance from 400 meters to 50 kilometers. I also have experience in running and exercising while pregnant, and starting an exercise routine from scratch… aka postpartum running. Hitting the trails looks a little different now that we have two little girls. I love going on hike/runs with the whole family or getting out for a few quick solo miles. Coaching and physical fitness is nothing new to me. I studied physical education and fitness management with a minor in health at Northwestern College and coached middle school cross country for a year before having our first baby.  Now, I am primarily a stay-at-home mom, and very eager to start my role as a coach and connect with new athletes!

Coach Taylor

In 3rd grade, I ran the mile and won with a broken arm. The competitive spirit caught me. I wanted to do the same thing every year after that! So, I did and kept enjoying it. It was purely competitive and so much fun. My mom and brother easily talked me into running track & field when I was in junior high. In seventh grade I ran and scored at the varsity sub-sectional and sectional meets. That year was when I became really intrigued with the elite level athletes. I watched the best athletes on our team as a shy 12 year-old and tried to do everything like they did. That’s where the desire to become a better competitor happened. I looked forward to the next track seasons, but mostly for competitive reasons. Later, my mom and brother also talked me into running cross country in high school.

I would go on to compete collegiately in both sports and become a three time All-American in middle distance events at Northwestern College, IA. In college I continued studying the best of the best to become better. I didn’t just do what my coaches said, I tried to soak it all in. It wasn’t until midway through college when a deep passion for running and training started to take over the competitive side of it. After college, Dawn and I moved to Colorado where my passions of being in nature and running was refreshed by an introduction to trail running. We all know how that story goes. A few years and ultras later, my passions for moving in wild places and challenging myself continue to grow. Just as I did as a 12 year old, I have been studying the best of the best and trying to translate that to my own running. I have been able to place on podiums or win events from 10k trail races to 100 miles.

I currently coach athletes in cross country, track & field, and trail running along with being a Kindergarten/First grade teacher. I view myself as a “growth-coordinator,” and I’m really excited for the potential to help you grow too.

Besides running I love to spend ample time with family, cook, camp, hike, and ski.
